the famous writter H.C. Andersen was born. the original house, where the
writer was born, is today a museum lieing in the heart of odense. you
can get to see where he lived, and his story is told included fotos from
his life, which he spend traveling all over the world, while writing his
for families with children, there is made a cultural house where you
travel in the world og H.C. Andersen. you can here hear stories, play
them, dressed up like the charracters, and use the playrooms.
The cathedral of odense, lies in the heart of the city next to shopping
streets. the church is an example of one of the finest Gothic
architecture in Denmark. the church is named after the danish king sct.
canute who was king in denmark from 1080-86. he later got holied and
barried in the basement of the church, and therefore, during the semi
medialevaltimes the place became a goal of pilgrim travellers.
odense has also one of the biggest zoo's, neewly renovated with many
facilities. other than seeing the many different types of animals
traveling through different continents, it is possible to see some of
the animals be feeded,there are playgrounds, eating places, and info
points. there is also a green area, where it is possible to go among
different types of birds and monkeys.
through the city, there runs a river, where it is possible to sail. it
stops or at the zoo or next to the funen village, which is an open-air
museum that shows the life of the danes during the 18th and 19th
century. the museum is builded up like a village with half-timbered
houses, cultivated fields and people dressed like at that time, showing
the everyday life at that time. as a connection to H.C. Andersen, during
the summer, they make the fairytales in the village at an open theater,
since he lived in that period of time.
